Compared IGCSE Add Maths syllabus and ours.....The former is actually our syllabus up to 2006 where we teach topics like set theory, permutations and conbinations and relative velocity. From this year onwards, these have been removed. The IGCSE has all the topics as we have in our Additional Maths syllabus. Students in IB will also cover this syllabus plus a few other topics like Arithmetic and Geometric Series. So a student who does IGCSE Add Maths will actually simply sail through the IB Maths paper as he would have covered all the topics but for the few.

Greenviewans, if you want to try the IGCSE paper, then go try the June papers in your TYS. It is the same paper ! And many of you find the June paper easy to handle! so getting a distinction at IGCSE level is not a problem for you "O" level people.....haha.

This afternoon I briefed the PD teachers on the format of the coming CA paper. I will have to vet all the Maths papers to make sure they conform to Singapore standards...haha. Anyway, at least I get to learn first hand how the teachers here set questions based on the Singapore syllabi. They should be Ok as they have been given a hard copy of a typical school paper as a guide. Some complain that they may not be able to meet the dateline set by the school...yes, they are feeling the pace of the Singapore-style assessment!
